Record-breaking heat and poor air quality to end the first week of June

Sunny and hot forecast on tap for northwest Connecticut.

High pressure is still dominating the forecast. With the high in control, weather conditions are simply going to be very summer-like. The heat rolls on for another day to finish out the work week. High temperatures today will be in the upper 80s/low 90s. It will be a mostly sunny and dry day. With the UV index expected to be very high, make sure to protect your skin by wearing sunblock.

There is an Air Quality Alert for Southern Fairfield, Southern New Haven, Southern Middlesex, Southern New London from 11 AM to 11 PM.

During the morning and midday on Saturday, we should be experiencing a mostly sunny and warm day. By nightfall weather conditions will quickly change. A cold front will approach the region and increase the chance for rain starting late Saturday night around 8 pm. Winds will gust at times up to 30 mph with this front crossing.

Sunday will be a mostly dry and sunny day. Not anticipating significant rainfall with this front. Folks should expect less than a half-inch total between Saturday and Sunday.

Behind the front, weather conditions should be cooler and breezy on Monday in the upper 70s.
