A swatting incident on Tuesday targeted Weston Middle School, police say.
The school district and police both received an anonymous threat around 11:40 a.m., which claimed that explosive devices had been placed within the school. Police say as a result, secure school protocols were implemented and officers responded to the scene.
Weston police, Westport police K-9 units and the Stamford Police Department’s Bomb Squad searched inside and outside of the school, but no explosive devices were found.
The protocol was then lifted and the school returned to its normal operations.
Police are continuing to investigate the origin of the threat. They say that this incident is similar to threats that neighboring districts have received.
There is no known credible threat to the public.
