Veteran news anchor Bill Ritter announced that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease while on the air on Friday.

The 76-year-old journalist stated that he had been diagnosed with "early-stage" Alzheimer's disease and that he has been undergoing treatments prescribed to him by doctors.

Ritter, who anchored the WABC desk for decades, says that he wants to continue to "dig deeper" into the rise of Alzheimer's.
