There’s an adorable new reason to make a last-minute trip to Wild Safari at Six Flags Great Adventure before the season ends on Sept. 7.

The park is celebrating the arrival of more than 30 baby rheas born over the past week, the animal care team says.

Rheas are large, flightless birds, which are closely related to ostriches and emus and native to South America.

Known for their long legs, curious personalities and social nature, the fluffy chicks are already exploring their habitat and will usually be seen staying close to their parents as they learn their surroundings.

"Welcoming more than 30 healthy rhea chicks in such a short period is an exciting milestone for our animal care team," said Dr. William Rives, Director of Six Flags Wild Safari.

“These births are a testament to the exceptional care our animals receive,” Rives continued.

Wild Safari is home to over 1,200 animals from numerous species from around the world, and widely-considered to be an immersive off-road wildlife experience unlike any other in the region.
