Nurse's aide admits spraying paralyzed patient with bleach

A Camden County nurse's aide pleaded guilty to assault after investigators say she used excess force on a patient then sprayed her in the face and eyes with bleach.
Simone Goldsboro, 37, of Camden, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault on an "institutionalized elderly person: in connection with an incident that took place on August 17, 2023 at Avista Healthcare Nursing Home in Cherry Hill. According to the New Jersey Attorney General's office, Goldsboro was working as a license certified nurse's aide at the time of the incident.
Authorities say she was caring for a woman over the age of 60 who was paralyzed on one side of her body as a result of a stroke. Glassboro admitted to using more force than needed while undressing the patient to wash her. She then left the room and grabbed a spray bottle containing bleach from a cart used by custodians to clean the facility. The attorney general says Goldsboro then intentionally sprayed the patient in the face and eyes with the bleach.
"She knew that spraying the bleach into a person's eyes could cause significant bodily injury, including temporary or permanent loss of eyesight," the attorney general's office said in a statement.
Goldsborough could face a year in jail and well as possible probation and forfeiture of her certified nurse's aide license when she is sentenced on Oct. 30.
