Electricity has been restored at a Bridgeport high-rise that was heavily damaged by flash flooding, but residents say they are still waiting for hot water service to return.
Many residents at Cartwright Towers had to be carried from the building by first responders after flooding damaged the high-rise two weeks ago. The flooding knocked out power, hot water and elevator service.
Resident Scott Davis, who has lived at the building for 40 years, said conditions have been difficult since the flooding.
"It's extremely hard. I had to go to the gym to get hot water, and stick my head in the shower for a cold shower," Davis said.
City officials say they are working to restore hot water at the privately owned condo complex as quickly as possible.
"Obviously what happened here is devastating for the residents, but we've been doing everything that we can," said Tom Gaudett of the City of Bridgeport.
Officials say electricity is now back on, but it could take months before life returns to normal for residents.
