A man was shot in the chest in Bridgeport Monday morning, prompting an active police investigation.

Bridgeport police say officers responded to the area of Cottage Street and Park Avenue around 9 a.m. for a reported shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police have not released his condition.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
