Two men are facing charges for allegedly fighting with a juvenile in Yorktown Heights, police say.
Officials say on Oct. 13, police responded to the parking lot of BJ's Wholesale Club on Crompond Road after receiving a report of an altercation.
The victim informed police that 56-year-old Kenneth Rella and 18-year-old Anthony Rella got into a fight with them.
Mount Vernon officials confirmed Wednesday that Kenneth Rella is a former city police officer.
During the incident, one of the suspects allegedly attempted to hit the juvenile with his vehicle, while the other suspect showed up to assist. Police say the pair also allegedly punched and shoved the victim multiple times, causing them to be injured.
Police arrested the suspects in the parking lot and took them to Yorktown Police Headquarters.
Kenneth was charged with assault and reckless endangerment, while Anthony was charged with assault.
The two were then arraigned, and a temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
They are expected to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Oct. 20.
It's not clear if the suspects knew the juvenile or why they attacked them.
