A three-car crash halted traffic in Greenwich and landed two in the hospital in critical condition Thursday.
Police say a red Jeep Cherokee was driving south on East Putnam Avenue before 6 p.m. when it hit two other cars. At least two people were thrown out onto the street, police say. According to a witness, one of those ejected was a teenager.
Police and ambulances were on the scene of the accident trying to determine exactly what caused it. A total of four victims were involved, according to the Greenwich Police Department.
All four were rushed to the hospital, two with serious injuries. East Putnam Avenue was closed in both directions for hours as the investigation continued.
Authorities say a gas station near the scene has a surveillance camera that may have caught some of the accident on video. The owner of the station says police plan to look at the tape.
