Trumbull police are asking for help identifying three men they say walked into Harstan Jewelers in the Trumbull Mall just before 1 p.m. Saturday, smashing several display cases with hammers and stealing nearly $50,000 in merchandise.
Police say the thieves fled on foot with 15 to 20 Movado and Rolex watches then jumped into a cherry red Dodge Caravan, where a fourth man was waiting. According to police who have reviewed surveillance video, two of the men wore jackets with distinct patterns on the back.
The van, police say, had Maryland plates and drove down Main Street toward Bridgeport. A store employee who tailed the suspects was able to provide police with a description of the vehicle, and officers will continue to review surveillance video recorded during the robbery.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Trumbull Police Department at 203-261-3665.
