5 teens arrested in Greenwich car theft spree

Four juveniles under the age of 18, three from Danbury and one from Brookfield, were taken into custody along with Alex Gutama, 18, of Danbury.

Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with a motor vehicle theft investigation in Greenwich, according to local law enforcement.
Police received notification Wednesday regarding a vehicle theft incident on Scott Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers observed a BMW traveling south on North Street, following a stolen Honda Civic and leading a stolen Jeep Cherokee.
Upon noticing the presence of patrol vehicles, all three stolen vehicles attempted to flee, turning down a dead-end street. Tire deflation devices were quickly deployed by police, successfully immobilizing the BMW and Honda. Subsequently, the occupants of these vehicles fled on foot.
Efforts to stop the stolen Jeep were also effective, prompting its occupant to flee on foot.
K-9 units from Stamford, Norwalk, and Westport were summoned to assist in the search. Additionally, law enforcement utilized a drone to locate the individuals hiding in the nearby woods.
Four juveniles under the age of 18, three from Danbury and one from Brookfield, were taken into custody along with Alex Gutama, 18, of Danbury.
The four juveniles were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at Bridgeport Juvenile Court today. Gutama is expected in court on May 22.
