A 7-year-old girl with autism fell four stories from an apartment and landed on the ground below in the Bronx Monday.
Surveillance video shows the fall on Andrews Avenue in University Heights around 3:15 a.m. The video also shows the girl slowly getting up from the fall about 10 minutes later and head to her neighbor's window. After help doesn't come immediately, the girl lays back down and then tries for a second time.
She was transported to New York-Presbyterian Columbia Hospital with a minor mouth injury, according to police.
They say the girl is non-verbal, so they were unable to find out what happened when asking her questions.
Police say her parents were home at the time, and no charges have been filed.
She is expected to be OK.
Sandra Crespo, who didn't want to show her face on camera, says her son, hopped out onto the first-floor window and came to the rescue. She says he helped the girl walk inside the apartment where they then called police.
Police say the incident does not appear to be suspicious at this time.
