Seven years have passed since Superstorm Sandy wreaked havoc on the East Coast and the Connecticut shoreline.

The 2012 superstorm is ranked among the deadliest storms in recent history.

More than 630,000 people were left without power, thousands of trees came down and billions of dollars were spent on damage restoration.
Nearly 200 people died in the storm, including five in Connecticut.

Sandy formed in the Caribbean as a tropical depression and made landfall on Cuba as category 3 hurricane before making its way to the East Coast.

Though the storm had weakened, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut experienced massive storm surge, leaving behind a path of destruction.

Ocean waves shot up at Laurel Beach in Milford.

Westport saw flooding around the Black Duck Cafe. Trees came down in Fairfield and damaged homes.

Sandy caused $65 billion in damage along the East Coast from Maine to North Carolina.
