Fire officials say eight people are without a home after a fire sparked at a house in Bridgeport.
The flames broke out at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday night at a three-story home on East Washington Avenue.
Officials say the fire started in a kitchen on the second floor. Eddie DeJesus says his daughter and grandchild live in the building but luckily were not home at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Fire officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation. DeJesus says a friend of his daughter may have accidentally caused the fire by leaving the stove on.
The Red Cross is working with the families involved to get them temporary shelter.
