An overnight fire sent a Stamford restaurant up in flames.
The fire at the Fireside Restaurant at 947 Hope St. was first noticed by a police officer around 1:30 a.m. More than 60 firefighters from across the area responded to the fire. The roof collapsed while the firefighters were battling the flames.
Eight people living in apartments above the restaurant are now homeless due to the blaze. Officials say everyone in the apartments made it out safely.
Fire officials say one firefighter suffered smoke inhalation, but is said to be OK.
The Stamford police and fire departments are conducting a joint investigation into the blaze.
