Bert Jablon is not one to sit around.

The 98-year-old fitness enthusiast from Syosset works out seven days a week and is set to compete in a 5K this weekend.

Susan Bruder, director of development and marketing for Visiting Nurse Service and Hospice of Suffolk, said the 5K in which Bert is participating is raising money for the extension of the Memorial Garden at Hospice House.

Bert told News 12 that he loves the camaraderie of running alongside others.

He said it’s “a democratic sport, with a small d” and where one can meet people from “all levels of life.”
