AAA: 4.1 million people expected to travel by air over the holiday

AAA is predicting that Thanksgiving travel will rebound close to pre-pandemic levels, with 13% more Americans expected to be on the move.
According to AAA, 4.1 million people are expected to travel by air. The group also says that drivers will account for 90% of all travelers in the coming days, despite the high gas prices.
Experts say the worst time to be on the roads will be Wednesday evening, especially between 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
"Advice I've been giving for many years now is get up early on Thanksgiving day itself and hit the road then, at 5 or 6 a.m. and drive for three hours and you'll be there at 9 a.m.," says Robert Sinclair Jr, manager of public affairs AAA Northeast. "So, you still have the whole day to spend with your family and traffic will be much, much lighter compared to Wednesday night, so keep that in mind."
AAA says the busy roads in the area to avoid are the Brooklyn Queens Expressway and the Cross Bronx Expressway.
