Financial advisors are warning investors Wednesday of the possible uncertainty in the stock market after the results of Tuesday's presidential election.
Experts say the market had been waiting for the election to give some direction on how to invest. They say a Hillary Clinton victory was expected, but as Donald Trump was declared the winner, Dow futures were down by as much as 800 points.
Patrick Clark, the principal owner of Charter Research and Investment Group in Southport, says that after Trump's acceptance speech he was surprised at how the market started to turn around.
He says history shows that, typically, the market performs better when a Democrat is elected president.
Clark says his company sent out emails Wednesday morning to their clients with concerns about market volatility in the weeks and months to come.
