There are some new residents at the Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo this summer.
The zoo welcomed eight African spur thigh tortoises as their temporary home.
All of the tortoises are rescues, bought in by people from pet stores.
Staff says the group tortoises at Beardsley ranges in size from 80 to 120 pounds, but the species can go up to double that.
The tortoises will be on exhibit at the zoo through Labor Day Weekend.
