An oil spill has contaminated a river in Weston after police say two men stealing copper from a home cut an oil line.

According to police, 37-year-old Jose Morales and his brother, 42-year-old Mauro Morales, both broke into a house on Valley Forge Road Friday afternoon and stole copper piping. As they were removing the piping, police say the two suspects cut an oil line, causing it to leak into the basement and into the river.

The two men, both from Stamford, have been freed on bond and are due in court next month.
