A Bridgeport Central High School student who was supposed to be sitting in detention has been accused of raping a fellow classmate in the school auditorium.
The alleged crime took place Monday, but many students still hadn?t heard about the incident. Principal Ortiz Alejandro sent a letter home to parents Wednesday to inform them of the incident.
Police say a 15-year-old female accused a 17-year-old male of the attack, reporting the crime to a security guard after school. The victim says she was walking along a school hallway when the boy invited her on a walk. She claims he led her to a backstage area in the school auditorium, where she says he raped her.
Principal Alejandro had no comment, about the allegations, but said, "There should not have been any kids in that particular area unless they are in an after school activity."
The suspect, whose name has not been released because he is a minor, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He is being held on $150,000 bond. Meanwhile, the school district is considering expulsion.
