Connecticut voices are being heard in Hollywood where complaints about the ABC sitcom “American Housewife” have led to action.
The producers of the show released a statement saying, "As a comedy, 'American Housewife' isn't intended to offend anyone. We've heard the concerns of the people of Norwalk and have made the decision to omit any mentions of the city from future episodes."
Residents in Norwalk and municipal leaders called on the station to apologize after using the city as the butt of several jokes in the comedy, which is set in Westport.
The show went so far as to feature a teen character dressed as a so-called "Norwalk Prom Date" for Halloween in a costume that made her look pregnant.
