Volunteers for Stamford based charity Americares helped to pack hygiene items and toiletries for victims' of natural disasters Tuesday.
Around 100 volunteers joined together in honor of 'Giving Tuesday' to pack 3,000 kits of essential hygiene items, including soap, shampoo and toothpaste which are distributed to families displaced by tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, wildfires and other emergencies worldwide.
"Americares can respond very quickly and has the supplies to do so," volunteers say.
They say this year a secret benefactor will also multiply donations made to Americares by up to seven times.
The charity is hoping 'Giving Tuesday', which started in 2012 as a chance for good causes to have a moment in the spotlight, will become an opportunity for those looking to give back.
Americares says Giving Tuesday is the second largest donation date of the year. Organizers says Dec. 31 is the largest donation day of the year.
In 2017, more than $300 million was donated online to not for profit companies in more than 150 countries.
