A Fairfield artist is making her final preparations for Bridgeport's upcoming Columbus Day Parade.
Leslie Cober-Gentry designs floats for the event.
She's rounding the stretch in her warehouse, putting the finishing touches on the two floats she's building.
She says it's one of her favorite projects, and has designed six floats for the parade over the last few years.
Cober-Gentry is also a design professor and show curator, and she says designing floats requires the same skills.
"This is truly one big canvas for me," she says. "No different from when I do a drawing for a magazine or a publication."
The parade kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m.
