A Bridgeport artist who fled his homeland of Nepal is getting ready for a major milestone.
Dev Moktan says he fled in Nepal in 2006 under extraordinary circumstances as a government uprising threatened his family's lives.
Now he is a professional artist in Bridgeport and he's getting ready to display his first major exhibit, which will debut at the Margaret E. Morton government center at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Moktan's paintings feature images of the Nepali revolution and scenes from popular culture. He says he wants people to see that Bridgeport is full of impressive talent.
Moktan also wants others to see the work of Nepali artists who have fled their homeland to seek refuge in the U.S.
