A local flag football team is set to be honored by one of the most prestigious franchises in all of sports. “We’re not just a football team,” Stratford Patriots head coach Josh Wrinn says. “These kids have a become a family of best friends.” After the team’s league folded due to low enrollment, Wrinn emailed the New England Patriots and owner Robert Kraft. “You send it to an organization like that, you don’t expect to get a response,” Wrinn said. Kraft invited the team to attend this weekend’s game at Gillette Stadium, where it will be honored prior to the game. “Not only that, but they also recently just told us that the kids are going to be on the field for pregame warmups,” Wrinn said. “After getting the disappointing news of no football, they’re as happy as can be.” New England hosts Houston this Sunday with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
