As summer approaches, ticks are out in full swing

The summer temperatures will hit southwestern Connecticut soon, but the ticks aren?t waiting ? they?re out in full swing.
Doctors urge thorough checks for ticks on your body when outdoors, especially in wooded areas and parks. If you find a tick, doctors recommend wearing gloves and using sharp tweezers to gently, but firmly pull it out. Then check to make sure no parts of the tick remain in your skin.
If you don?t feel comfortable removing the ticks themselves, call a doctor.
Once the tick is removed, clean the area and apply Neosporin. And keep an eye out for potential inflammations.
Doctors usually prescribe an antibiotic to help stave off Lyme Disease if a tick has been on the skin for more than a day.
