A former attorney for Christ Episcopal Church in Greenwich was charged Friday in a child pornography case involving the church's former music director.

A grand jury issued a two-count indictment against Philip Russell, of Stamford, charging him with obstruction of justice and destroying evidence. In January, the East Putnam Avenue church's music director, Robert Tate, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. According to federal prosecutors, Russell destroyed Tate's computer containing illegal pictures in order to derail the FBI investigation in October.

A defense attorney for Russell, known for his defense of late real estate developer Andrew Kissell, maintains his client is innocent.
