Federal authorities have confirmed that salmonella has been found in a single package of Kellogg peanut butter crackers.
According to officials, two grocers and General Mills are recalling some of their products because of the salmonella scare.
At least six deaths are being blamed on the outbreak. Health officials say at least eight people in Connecticut have been infected with salmonella, linked to tainted peanut butter products.
Doctors say nausea, diarrhea and fever can lead to other symptoms.
"If there are signs of ongoing dehydration, you need to at least be re-hydrating yourself with something like Gatorade or other sports drinks, rather than water,? says Chief Norwalk Hospital Gastroenterology Dr. William Hale.
Doctors say salmonella can lead to severe illness and even death in people with weak immune systems.
