The baby who was delivered 10 weeks early when his mother was rushed to the hospital is finally heading home to his family.
Luke Lohnes, of Stratford, says it's the most amazing feeling in the world to have his son Luke come home, but says it's bittersweet because his wife is still in the hospital. Lohnes wife, Brittany, was rushed to the emergency room when she was 30 weeks pregnant and diagnosed with double pneumonia. Doctors had to perform an emergency cesarean section, and place her into a medically-induced coma.
Baby Luke was born weighing only three pounds, six ounces. He has gained more than two pounds since then.
"He's a miracle, and he's a fighter, and my wife is a fighter," says Lohnes. He adds that Luke is eating and doing everything a little guy should do.
Brittany Lohnes remains in intensive care, and still has a long road ahead of her. Luke Lohnes says he just got approval to move her to Yale-New Haven Hospital so that she will be closer to home.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with the medical expenses.
