? In addition to the popular store Blue Tulip, two more shops in Darien announced that they will close.
Store owners say the reason behind the decision is because many residents have lost their jobs, leading to less foot traffic in the area. Others say that fewer customers and less spending are to blame.
Pink and Green in downtown Darien and Tada in Noroton Heights are both closing. Tada owners say they have other income and don't want to incur debt to continue business in the down economy.
The Darien Chamber of Commerce is offering some advice to local business owners who have decided not to close.
?Each business needs to take a look at what makes them special and what brings customers to their store consistently,? said Carol Wilder Tammer, of the Darien Chamber of Commerce.
The Darien Chamber of Commerce is holding a seminar this month that will be open to non-members and will focus on how to market in a down economy.
