Baked in Color: Larchmont cookie shop sells popular rainbow cookies for LGBTQ charity

A popular cookie shop in Larchmont is donating a portion of its profits during Pride Month to an LGBTQ charity.
Baked in Color is known for its unique, colorful cookies and brownies. CEO and founder Julie Waxman says Pride Month is one of their best seasons for business.
"June is our No. 1 month. December is our No. 2,” she says.
In order to give back to the community who supports them, Baked in Color will give 10% of its profits in June to the Trevor Project, a suicide prevention organization for the LGBTQ community.
Waxman used to work in corporate retail at Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's for 20 years.
"It was very entrepreneurial and creative, and then, I was ready for something new,” she says.
Waxman says she didn't want to just bake typical chocolate chip cookies, but she was determined to make them rainbow.
"Hundreds of batches later, Baked in Color was born,” she says.
She created a website and baked thousands of cookies free of charge for friends and family to get the word out.
"Immediately, social media influencers took notice. 'Good Morning America' reached out and 'Insider' reached out. It took off right away,” Waxman says. “We opened a place in Manhattan at Columbus Circle…we had to close during COVID, unfortunately."
Waxman was able to open a new shop in Larchmont last month, where they also bake orders from around the country. She says she's happy to be doing what she loves and helping others who feel alone for who they love or who they are.
"We sell rainbows all year-round, but Pride is really near and dear to our brand and our hearts,” Waxman says.
