A bartender at Ralph and Rich's Restaurant in Bridgeport saved a Milford man's life, according to paramedics.
Saayied Halabi, the bartender, says he doesn't consider himself a hero, but John Simon, the man he saved, says he does.
Simon, 68, says he told his wife he thought he was having a heart attack shortly before collapsing inside the restaurant.
Halabi, who was working his bartending shift, had recently completed an EMT training class at Bridgeport Hospital. He says he began performing CPR.
A nurse who happened to be eating at the restaurant also rendered aid until paramedics arrived, according to officials.
The paramedics say they revived Simon after his heart had stopped for two to three minutes.
Simon is recovering at Bridgeport Hospital after undergoing bypass surgery and a heart valve replacement.
"It was a good thing I took that class," Halabi says.
