A beached whale washed ashore at Rockaway Beach Monday morning.

An aerial survey team notified the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society about a whale carcass floating offshore approximately 15 miles south of Long Island on March 24.

They confirmed that the floating whale carcass was the same beached whale at Rockaway Beach.

They identified the whale as a Sei whale, approximately 40 feet long.
