The brush fire that charred about 50 acres of land in Milford has partially destroyed the boardwalk at Beaverbrook Park.
The park is on land owned by Kingdom Life Christian Church, but is maintained by the city and open for public use.
"This could have been a disaster and the fire department, along with the mutual aid from other cities, did a phenomenal job of stopping this from becoming a far worse situation, hats off to them," says the church's Senior Bishop Jay Ramirez.
The church says it has closed off the area until city officials say it is safe for the public to return.
