It was a star-studded afternoon at the seventh annual Bernie Williams Day at the Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday, all to benefit its 20th Arts in Education season.
The day featured a doubleheader softball game and a concert headlined by the legendary Yankees centerfielder and accomplished jazz guitarist.
“Ridgefield was one of the first communities that really embraced me as an artist and as a musician, so I'm indebted to them,” said Williams. “Every time I have an opportunity to do something for this community, I'm always open to it.”
Amongst the stars playing to support the program were 1996 World Series champions Mariano Rivera, Charlie Hays and Cecil Fielder, and Hollywood actors Nick Turturro and Josh Segarra.
The fundraiser also brought awareness to interstitial lung disease as a part of Tune In To Lung Health, an endeavor that’s personal for Williams.
You can find more information about how to get your school involved with the Arts in Education Program at the Ridgefield Playhouse website.
