Berry, a red panda who was elected honorary mayor of the Beardsley Zoo last year, died on Wednesday at the age of 14 following a veterinary procedure.
Zoo officials say Berry was a "beloved member" with "a playful demeanor and striking natural beauty."
“Berry, at 14 years old, lived a long and remarkable life, far exceeding the typical lifespan of 8-10 years in the wild and slightly longer in managed care,” the zoo said in a social media post.
