A new bill could ease processing fees for people paying city fines and taxes online with a credit card.
The new proposal by the City Council would eliminate the $2 extra charge when residents pay online for city bills, such as fines, rents and taxes.
Bronx residents say the bill is more in line with Mayor Michael Bloomberg's efforts to go green, as more people would be inclined to pay online instead of mailing a check.
"A lot of these fees or surcharges are really unwarranted especially when you have electronic payments like that," says Tania Ochoteco, a Bronx resident.
