The Milford Chapter of The Links held a Black family wellness expo at the Bridgeport Public Library downtown Saturday.
Organizers said it was all part of an effort to address everything from heart health to diabetes and cancer prevention.
They hope to address "a major health gap" in communities of color.
"We want to make sure we close that gap because there are a lot of disease that affect the Black community at higher rates than other races," said the chapter's Dr. Koren Paul.
"We are very excited about the turnout and the amount of resources, as well as people that have been impacted by our event today," said the chapter's Nicole Macon.
Organizers said the event focused on the entire family -- from infants to seniors -- and coincided with health events sponsored by The Links nationwide.
