Blumenthal says Linda Lee should be compensated for 100% of the damages suffered when the crash took place on Freeman Street one year ago.
Lee says the rental company refused to pay her for $8,000 in damages because the accident occurred after the car was stolen. She says the sound of the impact in front of her house woke her out of her sleep.
"I had just laid down, getting ready to doze off to sleep and I heard a boom! And my son was upstairs on the third floor and he said, someone just hit your car!" Lee recalls.
"Linda Lee here is the victim of a stolen car and the rental company or the insurer more likely ought to be held accountable. I'm going to fight for her under the present law, if we need to change the law, that's what I will fight to do as well," Blumenthal says.
Lee says she has never been able to repair her car.
Police say one person was arrested in connection with that case.
