Police have identified the body found Wednesday in the Housatonic River as the Florida man who went missing last Tuesday.
According to police, Tavares Harris crashed his car into the Devon Bridge and then jumped in a potential suicide attempt.
Search and rescue crews from the Coast Guard and nearby agencies tried to find him for several days.
Police received a call Wednesday around 4 p.m. that a boater had spotted the body floating in the river.
"Officers responded, our marine units responded, us and the fire department, and we subsequently recovered a body," says Capt. Frank Eannotti with the Stratford police.
No other information has been released at this time.
