A body was found in the debris of a house explosion in Bloomfield, police say.

Police responded to an explosion at 27 Banbury Lane on Monday around 6:11 p.m. to assist fire crews.

When officers arrived, they say the house was fully engulfed in flames. Fire crews say the house was devastatingly damaged, but no other homes in the neighborhood were affected.

Firefighters recovered the victim’s body at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday. The state medical examiner was called to take custody of the remains.

The victim has not yet been identified.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating.
