Groups in western Connecticut that resettle refugees are keeping a close eye on the new travel ban today.

IICONN in Bridgeport is expecting two refugees in the next few weeks, but their status is now in limbo.

The head of IICONN says both the refugees are coming from the Democratic Republic of Congo in Africa.

President Donald Trump's travel ban bars refugees for the next four months, with exceptions, and IICONN President Claudia Connor says those exceptions leave a lot of wiggle room.

"The exceptions are, if they have, as the Supreme Court put it, a 'bona fide' relationship with somebody in the United States, a business, a family, or other entity,” says Conner. “It's that phrase, the 'bona fide relationship,' that is unclear.”

One of the refugees is set to arrive on July 6.

Under the new policy, IICONN expects him to be allowed into the U.S.

The other refugee arrives a week later, and no one knows if he will be allowed to come.
