Officials with the American Legion Post 140 in Bridgeport are asking for the public's help in keeping their doors open.
Members of Bridgeport's American Legion Post 140 told News 12 Connecticut they were horrified by a foreclosure notice. They say they're trying to raise $50,000 so they can pay off taxes, utility expenses and fees from the city's Water Pollution Control Authority that they fell behind on.
The members say they have very proudly fought for their country during peacetime and war, and now they need the people of the greater Bridgeport area to fight for them.
A GoFundMe page was set up for community members to help out.
