A Bridgeport attorney who has worked on hundreds of immigration cases says people who are undocumented and have lived in the United States for at least one year should immediately file asylum applications.
Dennis Bradley recommends people fill out the application instead of hiding from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
Bradley says all undocumented residents, regardless of whether they have committed what he describes as "non-immigration-related crimes" face the same likelihood of being targeted for deportation.
He tells News 12 that people need to make sure they thoroughly read the application, understand the questions and answer them as accurately as possible.
"Any mistakes on these applications could lead to people being viewed as submitting a fraudulent form, which could produce other hardships for them as they go through the grueling process of filing an asylum application," he says.
