Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Rep. Jim Himes were in Bridgeport today to highlight programs for those looking to get back into the workforce after prison.
Officials announce more than $4 million in federal grants for Bridgeport-based Career Resources Incorporated, a workforce development nonprofit that supports residents across the state.
Blumenthal and Himes say the money will help fund CRI’s Pathway Home Program in an effort to break the cycle of recidivism.
The program connects returning citizens to the workforce system before their release and continues to provide services upon their reentry into the community.
The funding will also support CRI's Bridgeport Reentry Housing Initiative, which helps returning citizens find housing.
There was also a resource fair following the press conference.
