A Bridgeport food pantry is grateful to their community for helping to get their mobile mission back up and running.

As New 12 Connecticut recently reported, the transmission of the delivery truck for Bishop Joan Williams Food Pantry blew out two weeks ago, which endangered the entire food delivery program that thousands of families depend upon.

After the story aired, Joe Kaliko of the Needs Clearing House helped to raise $3,000 to get the transmission replaced and the operation back on the road. The food pantry also thanked Miranda & Sons Automotive for repairing the truck at cost.

State and local leaders honored the nonprofit Saturday for helping the food pantry overcome their problems.

The Bishop Joan Williams Food Pantry on Worth Street feeds more than 300,000 families every single year.
