Members of a Bridgeport church told News 12 they are grateful the community helped save their annual charity event from being cancelled.
Each year the Christian Reborn Church holds a back-to-school giveaway, providing supplies to hundreds of families. Recently a local storage facility was flooded, ruining thousands of dollars worth of items.
Parishioner Ana Plaza says once community members and local business owners heard what happened, they replaced all the destroyed items.
"It's just an amazing feeling to know that not only are you going to say what you're going to do, but actually put your words into action," she said.
News 12's Frank Recchia was at the church to hear more about how the community helped Plaza.
