Bridgeport Department of Public Health will stop administering doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after it was announced the drug is being investigated for reports of rare but potentially dangerous blood clots, Mayor Joe Ganim announced today.
“Safety and confidence in the vaccine is paramount," Ganim said in a statement. "Unless, or until we are 100% confident in the J & J vaccine, we will pause its use.”
Ganim says the city will be working closely with the state and health officials for further advisement while Bridgeport’s DPH clinics continue to administer the Moderna vaccine.
