A Bridgeport family says a pest infestation in their apartment has become so bad that it's threatening the health and safety of their children. The tenants, who live in a multi-family house on Center Street, say mice, rats, roaches and bedbugs have taken over their first-floor apartment. They let News 12 Connecticut into their home, where they showed reporter Frank Recchia a container full of bedbugs and a cereal box filled with cockroaches. An expert tells News 12 Connecticut that renters facing unhealthy conditions should file a complaint in writing with their local health department, which this family has done. He says the landlord may get a summons and be forced to exterminate, and the renter may win the right to break the lease and get the security deposit back.
